Feedback.

Some feedback from the 2008 Autumn project at Lindon Bennet School.
Louise Hurst (Head of Music) -
All (the children) had some very positive sessions throughout the week. Most exhibited a level of control, interest or musicality at some stage that had not previously been obvious in normal music lessons.
The improved level of concentration and enthusiasm to communicate musically will have an impact on literacy skills.
A hugely successful week.  Two children were eager to perform in Friday’s assembly who would not usually want to stand up in front of the school.

Alison Potter (Music and Technology Assistant) -
Some children responded better to the project than they have responded to anything previously tried. It has improved many of the children’s awareness and concentration skills which will help with gaining other skills such as literacy and numeracy.
The project can give these children a way to express themselves, which is something they find very difficult to do
The children had a fantastic week and surprised us with their level of interest and enthusiasm.

Feedback from Priory SN School week of computer music workshops  in July 2008.
Answers about the computer-music sessions:
“the music sessions were invaluable”
“David worked in a very sensitive, caring and imaginative approach”
“I witnessed very strong responses to the sound systems and saw awareness of the students to their inputs”
“I witnessed a student (wheelchair-bound) gradually realising the fact that her arms/head were creating the sounds, not her voice. I think further work would greatly expand on her abilities”
“Richer and therefore more engaged experience of music.  Instruments and especially electronic material used are excellent for students with reduced mobility”
Qu: were there any marked changes in hand/eye coordination or greater muscle coordination through the music workshops?
“Some clear examples of greater and more varied fine and gross muscular activity e.g. in response to the music”
General comments:
“On the whole it was a very nice experience, certainly to be repeated.  I would have liked more students to be involved in David’s workshops – they responded so well to it.”
“…it was clear that they understood that their movement caused the (music) effect and it was very motivating”
